Primary Principal - Keith Newby

Primary Principal

Welcome to the 2017 school year. It promises to be a year of change and growth for us as a College as the secondary school continues to expand onto our permanent site and the primary school expands into some of the vacated facilities. This of course is only a temporary measure for us in Primary, as we too will be moving to the new site sometime in the not too distant future.

In the meantime, we are here to serve our school community as a professional team of educators and administrators. We are justifiably proud of our happy and cooperative environment in which teachers have the opportunity to teach and students have the right to learn.  Our Core Values of Courage, Persistence and Respect (CPR) emphasise our commitment to the holistic development of each child; Academically, Physically, Emotionally and Spiritually.

Austin Cove Baptist College is a community with 312 students in the Primary School and 248 students in the Secondary School.  The Primary School is double streamed from Kindergarten to Year Six. As you browse our website you will gain some understanding of what we do that ensures our teaching and learning environment is child focussed, pedagogically sound, creative and based on a partnership with our parents and wider community.

Along with the Secondary Principal, Mr Orlando dos Santos, I encourage us all to see our educational community as “Two Schools – One College” – a College in which students can journey from Kindergarten right through to graduation at the completion of Year Twelve.

Primary Goings On

Artist of the Week - Jack Birch

Hi, my name is JACK BIRCH.

I’m in Year 1C and my teacher is Mrs Bond. I started at ACBC in Kindy in 2015. At School, I really enjoy Art with Mrs Tie.

I love playing AFL football and when I’m older I'd like to be a football player. At home, I like to play football with my brother Max. My favourite AFL team is the Eagles.

My favourite colour is blue because it is an Eagles Team colour.

Tree Planting

Primary students recently planted 200 tree seedlings at the High School Campus.

The seedlings were supplied by Men of the Trees in Rockingham, and a team from Bunnings Halls Head helped to plant 12 established trees. A big thanks to Mandurah Toyota for their support in providing prizes and tree guards.

Seen here modelling our new Sun-Wise House Faction School Hats is the College's new uniform model, Principal Newby.

The Uniform Shop also now stocks Knee Patches for the boys' Grey Pants and Sports Tracksuit Pants.

Scitech Excursion

Selected students from Miss Yapp’s Digital Technology and Art / Craft classes were treated to a day at Scitech recently. The children visited the Planetarium, experienced a Light Show, learned about Innovation and Design developments using 3D printers and computers that can be ‘taught’ to perform certain functions.

Principal's Mystery Tour

Recently a group of very excited students headed off to Jandakot Airport, Bounce and Hungry Jacks for their Principal’s Mystery Tour with Mrs Bowen and Mr Newby. The students were a delight to take away and were fine ambassadors for the school. Congratulations to these students and our larger group of children who achieved their CPR star in the first semester.
