Covid-19 Information

Latest COVID-19 Notices

01 April 2020

Dear Stakeholders

The Western Australian State Government has introduced intrastate travel restrictions effective from 11:59pm Tuesday 31 March 2020 to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

These restrictions will prevent non-essential travel across regional boundaries and due to their close proximity, the Perth and Peel regions will combine into one region.
Exemptions do apply to those travelling across regional borders for:
•    work purposes;
•    to transport freight;
•    to attend medical appointments;
•    to attend school or an educational institution (where necessary);
•    to those who do not have access to groceries or supplies within their region
•    catering for family members; and
•    compassionate grounds.

For clarity, the freight industry will continue to operate and is permitted to travel through regional boundaries.

Click here for a map of the regional boundaries across the state. In Peel, the southern regional boundary points along the main arterials are;

South Western Highway – heading south, the boundary is approximately 1km past the Alcoa Wagerup turn-off.

Forest Highway – heading south, the boundary is approximately 1km south of the Preston Beach turn-off.

People are encouraged, where possible, to assist police by preparing documentation, such as a letter/email/SMS from an employer, to support their travel.

For the WA public, the State Government is advising anyone travelling or planning a trip outside their region to stay at home and to return home if currently outside of their region.

National parks and temporary accommodation will also be closed to tourists.

Police have the power to issue fines to anyone who chooses to ignore the order.

Please note that these new measures are a WA State Government directive and therefore are not currently included in the Commonwealth Government's new COVID-19 app.

Please continue to visit WA.gov.au for all updates on intrastate travel restrictions.

We thank you for your cooperation.
