Pastoral Care

Pastoral Care

Primary Pastoral Care

At Austin Cove Baptist College we are proud of our caring environment and our goal is to support each student to reach their God-given potential.

In our daily activities, the core values of Courage, Persistence and Respect are integrated into our curriculum.  This supports and enables students to cope with challenges that are presented to them.

In Primary School, the Classroom Teacher is the key nurturer.  The Principal, Chaplain and Deputy Principals support the Classroom Teacher and together they work as a team to care for each individual and look after the well-being of the students.

We are blessed to have a compassionate and dedicated Chaplain at our College that cares for the wellbeing, values and spirituality of our students.  Christian Education (our ACE program) is an important component of the students’ academic programme.  The Chaplain offers information and assists students to find a better way to deal with issues ranging from family breakdown and loneliness to stress and anxiety.  Our Chaplain provides a listening ear and a caring presence for students in crisis and has a passion to improve the lives of our young people.

Secondary Pastoral Care

The Deputy Principal (Student Services) oversees Pastoral Care programs within the College, in liaison with the Heads of Year, Chaplain, Careers Advisor, Form Teachers and the Principal.

The foundation for Pastoral Care lies within the form class and with the Heads of Year Coordinators. Each Form Teacher is available for consultation with students who may have questions, or are experiencing difficulties. The Form Teacher will also be a contact person when the Head of Year Coordinator is monitoring a student's progress.

The Head of Year is available to all students in that year level and will coordinate special programs where necessary, to monitor the students progress. The Head of Year is the person responsible for liaison with parents and teachers in regard to individual students within that year group.

2018 Swimming Carnival

It was a great day at the MARC for the 2018 Senior Swimming Carnival. Staff and students had a ball as the fierce, but friendly, faction rivalry inspired all. As usual, the BBQ was fired up for lunch and students swam before a packed parent gallery.

Classroom in the Sky

Its not everyday you see a classroom take to the skies however, after much preparation, the second storey on the latest secondary classroom block has been lifted into place. After the modules have been secured stairs and rails will be fitted, and then work on the interior fitout will commence.
